Boxee for Windows coming June 23rd
You have probably seen the Boxee aplication for Mac OS X before. There is also a good chance you signed up to test the beta for Windows but never got an invite. Well the wait is over, almost. Boxee announced it would be officially releaseing Boxee for Windows to the public on June 23rd. They will also be attempting to make profit from buyable addons for Boxee, and may be also working on paid subscriptions. If you don’t know what boxee is, it is an application that streams media to your desktop in a nice sleek app from Hulu, CBS, Youtube, and other media streaming websites. It can also stream these shows to your portable device.

Windows 7 Starter Edition won’t have three app limit
Microsoft confirmed that they were dropping the three app limit from Windows 7 Starter Edition today on The Windows Blog. They stated that it was because of all the harsh feedback they were getting about it (yes, microsoft took your opinions into consideration). The Starter Edition will still have the rest of its ties tho, like no dual monitor support, Windows Media Center, DVD playback, network streaming, or XP compatibility mode. Yes, the Starter Edition is still very limited, so go ahead and start bashing Miscrosoft about it and maybe they’ll cut us some slack…
Hulu releases desktop app
Hulu recently launched it’s desktop application for Windows XP and OS X allowing you to search and watch Hulu videos without thinking about opening up a browser. Hulu was recently supporting the Boxee media center but came into some conflict with its partners and dropped the support. So now Hulu has its own app.
It is compatible with a regular mouse and keyboard, a Windows Media Center control, or an Apple remote control. Hulu Desktop also allows you to link your Hulu account and view your queue, edit it, add favorites and more.
Hulu desktop is the biggest addition to its new section called Hulu Labs.

Google Chrome out of beta
Google Chrome is a sleek, quick browser by Google. People fell in love with it right up until they realized that all those websites they don’t want people to know abou would end up turning into this neat little thumbnail everytime you open a new tab! Great! Well not for those who sit at work all day browsing instead of, well, working. And if you happen to be a momma’s boy, this was not the browser for you. ‘Was’. Google has just released the full on non-Beta version fulfilling every momma’s boy’s dreams. You can now remove any thumbnail you like from the home screen. There are a few new features that have been added also. AutoFill is a must have, and if you don’t know what that is, it just automatically fills in forms with phrases you have used before for similar forms. You can now browse in full screen also. That’s nice. It’s still yet to be seen that wwe will be able to use various addons. This browser will blow Mozilla out of the water when that point comes. Read the rest of this entry »

Windows 7 Failure to Launch in VirtualBox Linux…
Today I attempted to run Windows 7 RC on a Linux machine running VirtualBox. All I got was a frustrating BSOD. I was able to run any other Windows OS except for Windows 7 RC. I know there has been success with it but not for me. I guess I’ll have to go through burning it, but seeing as my DVD drive is broken, I am stuck. Send me a copy?
Microsoft PDC boy band…Please No
NO NO NO NO NO! I guess som people just don’t get it. Brian didn’t. Yeah ok. This was all just a setup joke sort of thing to advertise for PDC. There were a few problems with going at it this way that I quickly noticed. One, why would they go through all the effort to make an advertisement video by making a 3 minute boy band video? Kind of a waste of time. Two, did they actually think anyone would watch this video all the way to the end? I couldn’t watch three minutes of boy band if my life depended on it. Maybe if it were a girl band…
Microsoft has to lie about Vista

So everyone knows about Vista and everyone hates it. Vista was a definite flop for Microsoft. Let’s just hope Windows 7 is better. But there has recently been commercials for something called the Mojave Experiment. They gather people for a little questionnaire about Vista. With hidden cameras watching they ask people if they like it or not. Every single one said they hated it with very true reasons such as it crashing, running slow, etc. Then they asked the people to rate Vista. That did not go good for Vista either. After all that they said there was a new operating system call Windows Mojave, nice name, but not at all real! They showed the people a few quick and easy tasks that don’t require much. The people thought the new operating system was amazing. The secret was that they were really being shown Windows Vista performing tasks that Microsoft new works great. I was not very impressed with Microsoft doing this. The people even said that they loved it after they were told it was really Vista! They said they definitely wanted to get Vista. Too bad they don’t know better and I’m sure Microsoft will be receiving a couple more complaints from customers who have seen this commercial. Microsoft actually lied to make people think Vista was better than what it really is! Way to go Microsoft! Linux has surpassed you on my list!
QOTD: What do you think of the Let’s Rock Event
I was jumping up and down just reading all the liveblogs! It was amazing. So much more than I expected. The new nano was a given but a new Touch, iTunes store, and many more features. WOW! So were you as joyous as I was and still am? Tell ELECTRON4ACS your thoughts of the event. Did you love it? Did you know about it? What did you expect of it? Just go ahead and let your heart out about Apple’s great accomplishments=).
Let’s Rock Event
There were many announcements that happened today at Apple’s Let’s Rock Event. A lot of unexpected announcements too!
One announcement was iTunes. TV shows will now be sold in HD along with SD. SD prices will be $1.99 and HD $2.99. NBC is also joining back up with iTunes so you can start downloading your favorite NBC TV shows! This was the introduction for iTunes 8.
”HD TV shows, accessibility… voice over… new browsing in iTunes, and something called Genius.” well what do you know? “Old browsing wasn’t efficient, in iTunes 8 you can look by album cover, and this new bar at the top let’s you look at anything graphically in little tiles.”
-Steve Jobs
The new feature, genius, which was just mentioned, allows you to make playlists from songs in your library that go with eachother. Whenever you make a genius playlist it send information to iTunes and makes genius become an even smarter genius with information about the taste of millions of iTunes users.iTunes 8 is available for free download http://apple.com/itunes.
The next announcement was huge, but expected. The new 4G iPod nano!

This is the thinnest iPod ever! It has a new curved design, accelerometer, and many more features! Just like the Touch and iPhone, you can simply turn the player sideways and view coverflow. This new iPod also includes video playback so you can still watch all your favorite shows, movies, etc. And when you are playing a song you can press and hold the center button to view a popup menu which allows you to create a genius playlist, just like with iTunes 8. You can also browse from this menu. It also includes a calender, stopwatch, and voice recording when a mic is detected.
This new iPod will have 24 hours a of battery life listening to music, and 4 hours for video. There is one thing left that will want everyone to get a new iPod nano. Colors. There are plenty of colors to choose from. Bright blue, green, purple, pink, yellow, and orange along with the original black and white. The prices will be $149 for 8GB and $199 for 16GB. They have topped this off with a new pair of in-ear headphones.

Ok. Now lets check out the new and improved iPod Touch. Yes. One even better then the last. Possible? Let’s see. There are now volume control buttons on the left side. And, about time, a built in speaker! They didn’t leave the new Touch out of the new Genius playlist feature either. The user interface is also a lot nicer. Album artwork looks nicer and the video still looks great! Apple also built in Nike+ with the Touch. The reciever for Nike+ is built in and you just need the transmitter for you shoe. And lets not forget the built-in App Store! With hundreds of applications and games you can download from any wi-fi spot, you can play amazing games, which use the accelerometer and touch screen to make the games worth it by far, and great applications to help you with every task you would ever want! The new and improved iPod Touch will have 36 hours of music and 6 hours of video. The prices for this even better Touch will have an even better price at 8GB, $229, 16GB for $299, and a 32GB for $399!
What more could you ask for! I don’t now. We don’t want to let the iPhone get left out so how about a new software update? Hmmm. Ok! Steve announced the iPhone 2.1 software update which will reduce the amount of dropped calls, improvements on battery life, and no crashing while using apps. This update will be available Friday.
Wow! I’m not sure anyone could take that all in. So how about you go check out the Apple website, watch some videos, update your iTunes, and buy a new iPod!
New Homepage
I recently made a startup page for ELECTRON4CS. Check it out here.Just click the image and it will take you back to the regular site. Hope you like it. I will soon be adding an effect that will change the background color every time the song mentions another color.
Music Now on ELECTRON4CS
I recently added this blog. It is Colors by Kira Willey. You may hear it from the player above. An extra feature has been added to electron4acs. If you have firefox then go ahead and install the FoxyTunes addon here. You may also get foxytunes on internet explorer here. After that is installed go check out our website again and you will see a little panel on the left side of the blog towards the bottom. If you click there you can play the same song, Colors. I will change the song every now and then. I love how simple and clean it looks. It also adds a little something to the website that says, WOW.
