Games on Demand section pops up on Xbox.com

with one comment

Xbox.com games on demand

Xbox.com games on demand

Microsoft recently redesigned the website, changing the look of your profile page and more. It seems that they have also replaced the XBOX Originals page with the games on-demand section. By the looks of it, it was just a renaming of the section, as the XBOX original games are now under the on-demand title. It may become the new spot that will include all downloadable games, which will also include the full game downloads coming in August.

Update- Microsoft is ending the XBOX Originals program. There wasn’t much notice or announcements about it…

WWDC 2009 Badge Holder

WWDC 2009 Badge Holder

The World Wide Developers Conference starts tomorrow and there will be a lot going on. The event begins at 10AM PT. There are a lot of rumors going around about it. One thing that is positive is the revealing of OS X Snow Leopard. There will also be a new iPhone but we aren’t sure of the details. A lot of ‘leaked’ pics have been revealed, but they are mostly longshots. We cannot say for sure. The iPhone OS will also be redesigned, possibly adding the ability to record video with the upgrade on its camera it will be getting. There are also high hopes of a netbook from Apple. Just keep your fingers crossed, because it’s not looking so good. We will begin posting tomorrow, but Gizmodo will be having live updates here.

Xbox Live gets 1080p Zune video store, Netflix browsing, Facebook, Twitter…

without comments

Miscrosoft Conference-Last.fm

XBOX Live Last.fm E3 2009

Microsoft announced a ton of updates for Xbox Live today at E3. The big thing was the relaunching of the video store, which will be Zune branded, and allow streaming of movies in 1080p. Microsoft is adding Facebook integration to Xbox Live. You can link your Xbox Live account with your Facebook account to share your gaming content on Facebook, view news from your friends, and more. There will also be Twitter and Last.fm integration. With Twitter you can instantly make posts about what your playing, achievments, or anything, along with replying to all those ‘tweets’. Then with last.fm, if you have gold membership of course, you can make and share your own station of all the music you love.

If you happen to be using Netflix, you will soon be able to add movies to your queue directly from your Xbox, without having to do it on your computer. While we are discussing videos, Microsoft is adding a new feature called Party Watch. This allows you to have your virtual avatar sit on a vitual couch with your virtual friends, and watch real movies and videos…together! Finally, if you are enjoying your 360 in the UK or Ireland, you will be getting live TV on your Xbox provided by Sky.

Hulu releases desktop app

without comments

hulu-desktop Hulu recently launched it’s desktop application for Windows XP and OS X allowing you to search and watch Hulu videos without thinking about opening up a browser. Hulu was recently supporting the Boxee media center but came into some conflict with its partners and dropped the support. So now Hulu has its own app.

It is compatible with a regular mouse and keyboard, a Windows Media Center control, or an Apple remote control. Hulu Desktop also allows you to link your Hulu account and view your queue, edit it, add favorites and more.

Hulu desktop is the biggest addition to its new section called Hulu Labs.

Google Chrome out of beta

without comments

Google Chrome

Google Chrome is a sleek, quick browser by Google. People fell in love with it right up until they realized that all those websites they don’t want people to know abou would end up turning into this neat little thumbnail everytime you open a new tab! Great! Well not for those who sit at work all day browsing instead of, well, working. And if you happen to be a momma’s boy, this was not the browser for you. ‘Was’. Google has just released the full on non-Beta version fulfilling every momma’s boy’s dreams. You can now remove any thumbnail you like from the home screen. There are a few new features that have been added also. AutoFill is a must have, and if you don’t know what that is, it just automatically fills in forms with phrases you have used before for similar forms. You can now browse in full screen also. That’s nice. It’s still yet to be seen that wwe will be able to use various addons. This browser will blow Mozilla out of the water when that point comes. Read the rest of this entry »

Sprink-StandAlone Youtube Client for Windows

without comments

SprinkSprink is a standalone youtube client made specifically for Windows 7. It is still in beta, obviously. It doesnt have its own website, and it doesn’t install. Just download, extract, and pin the shortcut to your taskbar. It has a few neat features, such as cover flow. It can be useful if you are doing multiple tasks and want to watch some Youtube without having to open up a full blown browser. It’s basic and loads pretty quick. There isn’t much to it. Not sure what makes it enhanced for Windows . I’m sure it works just the same on any other Windows OS. I am currently running the Windows 7 RC. Might do a review sometime soon. So go ahead and download Sprink below and try it out. There is alot that can be done to enhance the player, like adding more video websites. There seems to be a good future for Sprink.

Youtube joins up with iTunes and Amazon

without comments

Youtube recently added iTunes and Amazon links from promotionla and music videos to the iTunes store and Amazon. By clicking one of the links, it will take you to the store that you picked so you can purchase the featured song. Check out an example here.

The main music label that is participating in this is EMI. Electronic Arts is also taking part by providing links related to it’s Spore game for purchase at Amazon.

Maybe this is finally Google’s solution for making profit off of youtube.

Google Chrome Released

without comments

Google Chrome was released earlier today and works well. It doesn’t currently have some of the features of the bigger browsers such as addons but I can’t really rag on it much until an update. I believe they will come out with some more applications and addons giving you some more capability to surf the web with ease. It also has a scrolling speed that is a bit faster than most browsers and takes a little while to get used to.

As you may have noticed already, there is no bookmarks toolbar. If you go to the main page that shows up when you open a new tab there is a couple screenshots of your recently viewed website. You can drag any of these to the bar at the top of this page and whenever you open a new tab you can access  your bookmarks. This is a nice extra feature to give you more room to view your websites rather than the toolbars that you would rather not look at when you don’t need it.
