PSP 5.00 and PS3 2.50 coming soon

with one comment

Workers at Sony have been working their butts off and will be releasing PSP 5.00 and PS3 2.50 firmwares. These firmwares were just announced on the Playstation Blog. The PS3 won’t really be receiving anything new. There will be High Quality mode for bluetooth headset chat on Socom, along with a few tweaks in trophy and power management. The PSP however will be receiving a Wi-Fi version of the Playstation Store. This will allow you to download games, demos, trailers, and probably a few other things like wallpapers, etc. The PSP will also get a few more features such as a “full screen keyboard option for text entry and have redesigned the background of the XMB.” Not qiute sure what those are about but we should be seeing the new firmwares very soon.

“The Spotlight Turns to Notebooks” Event tomorrow at 10:00AM PT / 1PM ET

without comments

It is finally here and all our questions will be answered, hopefully. Apple will be having its “spotlight turns to notebooks” event tomorrow at Cupertino Town Hall. It is an invite only event so don’t try to just walk in. There have been many rumors about a new MacBook or MacBook Pro. Will that be or will there be some sort of completely new step for Apple? We are also hoping the “Brick” rumors will be answered. Apple hasn’t let us down yet. Engadget and Gizmodo will be holding a liveblog for the event.

Apple Notebook Event Official for October 14th!

without comments

Apple’s “Notebook” event is no longer a rumor. At town hall in San Francisco next Tuesday, the 14th, Apple will be holding the event. It will be an invitation only event held at 10pm PST. It is very obvious new laptops will be released. The quote, “The Spotlight Turns To Notebooks” on the invitations gave that away. The macbooks are obvious but what sort of new thing will it be. Will it be something completely new? Maybe they decided to use that iMac iCurve. Yea right, but we don’t really know much yet. Hopefully the event will settle the rumors about the “Brick”. Will they take the same step they did with the new iPod Nanos and come out with MacBooks in rainbow colors? Keep checking in to see if there are any leaks revealing what will happen.

QOTD: What will be the next big thing?

without comments

What will be the next big thing? Technology is advancing extremely fast and you never know what we’ll see next. The iPhone took our hearts but soon after every cell phone company was coming out with even more to try to match it. Touch screen PC’s are becoming part of our every day life. the Nintendo took a big step in gaming with their interactivity. The DS was one of Nintendo’s first step toward a more advanced interface with games. Then the Wii came out and that was it. The first console that you actually needed to stand up for. So what will be the next big step? What will top off everything we’ve seen and who do you think will make the leap? Microsoft, Apple, Sony, Nintendo? We don’t know, but we will have our ideas. What do you think will be the next big thing?

Youtube joins up with iTunes and Amazon

without comments

Youtube recently added iTunes and Amazon links from promotionla and music videos to the iTunes store and Amazon. By clicking one of the links, it will take you to the store that you picked so you can purchase the featured song. Check out an example here.

The main music label that is participating in this is EMI. Electronic Arts is also taking part by providing links related to it’s Spore game for purchase at Amazon.

Maybe this is finally Google’s solution for making profit off of youtube.

Moto Razr V3 still #1

without comments

You have seen these millions of times. Wherever you go, they’re there. Not too long ago they were the biggest thing in technology. The thinnest sleekest phone ever. Not to forget the camera and huge screen! Ok. Not really. But it was. And apparently it still is. It has once again been claimed the #1 most selling phone in America. That is not too much of a surprise however. Almost every carrier uses it, it’s very affordable, or just plain cheap, and it’s nothing too fancy. This phone seems to meet all the requirements of, well, older people. I bet your wondering where the iPhone is in all of this. The iPhone takes 2nd. That is  quite a success for Apple. The first phone they ever made, and quite the pricey phone, it still managed to takes the silver. the BlackBerry Curve took 3rd, LG’s Chocolate with 4th place, and the Blackberry Pearl took 5th. Way to go Motorola, you really pulled it off with the Razr, eeghh.

Nintendo Points Limited to one console

without comments

The Nintendo DSi was announced early this week along with Nintendo Points. Nintendo Points are the replacement for Wii Points and can be used with the new Nintendo DSi or the Wii. However, you cannot do both. When you purchase the card, if you redeem it on your Wii then the Wii is your limit. You cannot use those points on your DSi Store until you purchase a new card and redeem with your DSi. Knid of a let down, but I guess we’ll have to wait until Nintendo comes out with another process of linking the DSi with the Wii.

Microsoft Surface SDK

without comments

Microsoft recently came out with the Surface. Sometime this month Microsoft’s large touch device will be getting an SDK. The SDK will have a few features such as something called ScatterView, probably like what is shown above. Another thing SDK developers can do is use ”vision-based object recognition”. This sounds very intricate and seems like it could be a new step for development.

HTC fails the US again

without comments

It’s not a surprise that HTC comes out with another sleek, touch, gorgeous phone that everyone wants. It’s also not a surprise that the US doesn’t get them. The Touch HD was officially said to never be shipped to the States. The only way you can get it is if you get it imported. Why? The way I look at it is why not make more money off these from America?

Microsoft PDC boy band…Please No

without comments

NO NO NO NO NO! I guess som people just don’t get it. Brian didn’t. Yeah ok. This was all just a setup joke sort of thing to advertise for PDC. There were a few problems with going at it this way that I quickly noticed. One, why would they go through all the effort to make an advertisement video by making a 3 minute boy band video? Kind of a waste of time. Two, did they actually think anyone would watch this video all the way to the end? I couldn’t watch three minutes of boy band if my life depended on it. Maybe if it were a girl band…

Wii-Speak Unveiled

without comments

A while back Nintendo announced the Wii Speak Microphone for socializing with Animal Crossing. It wasn’t much of a success. Among all of the announcements made yesterday, was the Wii Speak Channel. The Wii Speak Channel allows you to voice chat with up to four people. There are still many questions to be answered about this new channel so just wait and see what happens.

Nintendo DSi Official

without comments

We were all expecting it and now it’s here. The Nintendo DSi was announced at Nintendo’s Fall presentation in Japan. There are many new features to he DSi. This is actually about 12% thinner. This may be because it got rid of the useless GBA slot. the displays are slightly larger also. Both are 3.25 inches. the big new features are the dual cameras. There is an external 3 megapixel camera along with another camera located on the inner hinge. there is also an SD card slot on the side. There is also internal storage but the amount of that is still unsure. Photos can be taken directly to the Wii Photo Channel on the card, another new feature. Nintendo will also be launching a DSi shop, which will sell content directly over WiFi, including a free browser app and “DS Ware” game. Wii points will now be known as Nintendo Points. Up until March 2010 all Nintendo DSi consoles sold will come with 1000 Nintendo Points. All content will be in 200/500/800 point brackets. These will come in black & white and will be priced at about ¥18,900 ($178). It will launch in November in Japan, but the rest of us will have to wait until next year, as usual. Check out the new DSi Japanese website. It may be in Japanese but I think you can come up with your own opinion just looking at a few pictures, check it out here. Continue reading to view more pics and the new video.
